And Home Again

We had a wonderful trip to Philadephia and DC. Jack got to meet Gram, which was most exciting for all - really! - especially for her. He got to meet his cousins who were very happy to see their cute baby cousin. Sasha kept asking me "Why is baby Jack sucking on your boobie?" She did not seem satisfied with the answer that it was how he got his food. She is just the cutest too - singing away loudly with all her songs, playing for hours on her own with all toys - first the blocks, then the dolls, then play dough, then painting. She just goes into the toy box and keeps coming out with one activity after the next. Pearl meanwhile is a little whiz doing the Monday NY Times crossword. She knew a lot of the answers! Most impressive. The flights were good, though it's just hard traveling with small person. Jack was a champ though, only minor crying on each flight during the awkward waiting to take off phase. He is again a different baby. He flips over from his tummy to his back. He holds his head up so well in the push up position. His sleeping went crazy during our travels, but last night at home, he slept wonderfully - down at 6:45, a feed at 11:00, back to sleep on his own, awake at 4:40 with a bit of crying until 5:00, then another feed and asleep on his own until 8:30. Ah! We all are much better rested this morning. Yesterday I was so sleepy, I forgot to wash the conditioner out of my hair, and then reached into my purse for a pen and took out a makeup brush, and almost walked to a meeting with it and my notebook. Oops. Sleepy. Today I feel a million times better. It is nice to have a cuddly little snuggler in bed with us, but the reality is that none of sleep particularly well. Even when I get good sleep, usually my back is achy from contorting around the little guy. Plus he keeps snuggling in, so I get about 4 inches of bed. Really, he is better in his little bassinet, and I can have some snuggles during a weekend nap. Seems like a much better arrangement.
