Weekend Quiet

This has been a lovely weekend. Being back at work, I realized that I need to spend really good time with Jack and Damian on the weekends. I miss the lazy pace of maternity leave... wake up, feed, take a walk, go for a lunch, do a few errands, come home. Especially Paris, where even simple errands were a fun adventure. Hanging out with Kerry and our Paris friends.

Friday night we stayed in, which I reckon will be the new routine. I get so tired on Friday evenings! We did go out to a movie mid-week while Osiris was here to watch Jack. That worked out perfectly. A little date night for us - dinner and a movie at the VIP movie theater - and then a family weekend. On Saturday Damian bravely got up when Jack got up at 6:00 and headed to the Autodromo for a dawn bike ride. I waited for Jack to wake up from his second sleep and had a lovely early morning with him, playing, bathing, feeding. Then the three of us headed to the Mercado San Juan. I carried him around in the Baby Bjorn and we bought vegetable, Asian sauces that are hard to find, and some amazing cheeses.

Saturday night we headed for an early dinner with work friends at the Antara mall, actually to the restaurant we went to the afternoon before I went into labor. Poor Jack was not at his best restaurant behavior. Our friends assured us that on a scale of 1-10 it was just a 4 per their experience with their two, but for us it was like a 9. He cried a lot, needed lots of feeds, lots of nappy changes.. Anyway, we came home, gave him a calming bath which he loved, then I feed him a lot. And he slept from 11:30 to 5:30. YAY. He went right back down at 6:15 after his feed until 8:30. A good sleep in the end after a long evening.

Today he napped all morning, then I took him for a 2-hour walk over to a department store, we had a lovely walk down Horacio which has a beautiful pathway down the middle with trees shading it. It's a perfect place for a walk. He even held onto his elephant doudou and managed to get part of the head into his mouth. Now we've just been playing, laughing, shaking little rattles at an interested little boy. And soon it's sleep (or so we hope). He's asleep in Damian's arms and when he's out of it enough, he'll go into his hammock.

Jack loves his new gym with hanging bits - he just looks up at all the toys and kicks and kicks. He especially loves the ones that make noise. This is a funny time - he is transitioning from sleeping all the time, to being awake by default and taking naps. But it's tough, and he gets so sleepy but also wants to be up. Probably in a few weeks he'll have his nap times, but for now, we just go with the flow and put him down to sleep when he gets fussy.
