Well, that was a lot of travel. In a good way. I can't believe how much we've learned as parents, and how much Jack Felix has grown. It isn't that easy to take lots of flights with a small baby, but our system of carrying him onto and off the plane in the Baby Bjorn worked perfectly. We have free hands for bags, etc and he is snug as a bug. Also I realized that one switch is the maximum he can do in a day (and probably us too!). So my plan of an extra night in Denver on the way in to the US and an extra night in Vail on the way was a good one. Just to have a quiet hotel where he could have a proper sleep made him (and us) stronger on the next flights.
He is now a kick kick kicker. We got home and put him in his little chair that has a slightly different angle to the chair in Paris. We turned on the music and he just stared at the little animals and kicked so much, like dancing. Just goes to show that babies go for brightly colored plastic over Scandinavian chic. Who knew?
He is such a different baby. The new diapers compared to the diapers we left here with are so funny. He looks at us, smiles, looks at his little animals on the chair. He is bursting out of his hammock, we'll have to unroll the edges. Even on the nursing chair, he looks so funny on the pillow, just SO BIG. And sleeps so much - now he does 6 and 7 hour stretches. Well, he's done that 2 nights in a row, so we know it's possible. I am ready for him to lose that a bit when he hits 4 months as babies tend to do, but for now, it's wonderful.
The cats were thrilled to see us. Sasso has now twice knocked the same pile of scarves and gloves onto the floor - funny because there are 4 piles next to each other on the shelf, but he keeps knocking over the same one. Passive aggressive cat, happy for us to be home.
Aspen and Colorado were beautiful. It was good from the work side and also just a nice way to round out the break. Last night I fell asleep around 8:30 and except for a short wake up at 2:20 by a certain JF, I slept through until 7:15. So much sleep! And from him. Only one wake up in that whole time is amazing.
So today is my first day back to the office. I already see that it will work out just fine - I'll try to shower and get ready before Jack wakes up, then I'll feed him, play, have breakfast, pump and go. Today was a bit off because I was unpacking and also I slept until 7:15. If I had woken up at 6:45, it would have been fine. But this sleeping thing is such a novelty, I wasn't ready to wake up early yet. So I'll be a bit late, but I'm not exactly concerned about this. I've fed the baby, had breakfast and pumped. So just quick shower and out of here.
