Father's Day

Well, I am slow with updates - not sure where the time goes b/c we have help to take care of Jack, but still, it is busy. We had a lovely Father's Day for Damian. In the morning he did a photo shoot with some friends and their 2 kids, so that was a slightly chaotic but very fun morning. I did a lot of playing with Freddy and nursing Jack. Then in the afternoon we headed out to lunch with Laura and Jorge at a newish restaurant called Drakke. It was totally empty and they have a lovely terrace that had a great breeze. Apparently we weren't supposed to even be there b/c it was a smoking area and kids aren't allowed - but since we were the only people in the entire restaurant, they seem to have given us a break. When we back for lunch yesterday we had to eat downstairs, which was also nice, though not quite as nice as upstairs.

Damian was up early and got a half smile from Jack. All week we've gotten half smiles, but so far still no big smile. We spend half our time smiling enthusiastically at him hoping hoping hoping for a return one from him - soon he will do it!

We're adapting to his changing sleeping. Some nights he is a champ and sleeps in 3 to 3.5 hour chunks, but then we have growth spurt nights where he eats and eats and eats, and then passes out for an hour, rinse wash repeat. Now that I realize that none of this is linear it is easier to manage. Some days we sleep better, and some days it is a struggle. And one day he will sleep for 5 hours... I have to remember that he is only 7 weeks old! And usually he is fairly chilled out. This morning he was Mr. Fussy, but that is unusual for him. He exhausted himself after such fussing and wailing (Mom, I am HUNGRY, not enjoying this walk anymore, prefer food please). I played him some little lullabies after the feed and he is going on 2 hours asleep in the hammock.
